We are a team of occupational therapists, educators, and parents who truly understand the journey - because we've lived it ourselves.
We’ve built a space where diverse sensory, neuro-, and cognitive profiles are understood, respected, and supported.
Our approach is grounded in evidence and guided by lived realities. We work with families, educators, therapists, and other professionals, sharing knowledge and collaborating through consultation, coaching, and training.
We listen carefully, ask the right questions, and let your insights shape how we work. It’s not about us having all the answers; it’s about figuring things out together.
What we bring is a solid mix of experience, knowledge, compassion, and curiosity. We don’t do one-size-fits-all. We do thoughtful, responsive, and practical.
Occupational Therapist & Parent
Carien Sabey
Hi 👋 I’m Carien (pronounced Ca-reen), founder of SabeyOT and an Occupational Therapist with over 18 years of experience.
I am deeply passionate about walking alongside individuals as they navigate their unique journeys. I have a special interest in sensory processing, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), ADHD, autism, and the range of diverse neuroprofiles as a whole. My work is grounded in promoting dignity, affirming lived experiences, and supporting people to live authentically.
My own experiences have profoundly shaped my approach and fueled my passion to create a space where felt-safety and compassion come first. I am committed to listening and learning, remaining curious, and partnering with individuals, families, and communities to advocate for meaningful change and connection.
Most of all, I believe in honouring individuals with diverse neuroprofiles by creating spaces where they feel genuinely seen, valued, and supported. Together, we can explore ways to support sensory and emotional well-being, nurture mental health, and foster joy and connection. It’s within these deeply meaningful relationships that we truly flourish, grow, and love life in all its beautiful diversity.
In addition to my Occupational Therapy qualification, I’m dedicated to lifelong learning. Here are some of the training I’ve completed: ADHD assessment and diagnosis, ADOS & ADI-R, DEIS-MIM, Child Attachment and Play Assessment, Meaning of the Child, Dynamic Maturational Model, Postgraduate Diploma in Sensory Integration, Postgraduate Certificate in FASD, Sensory Attachment Intervention principles, Polyvagal Theory, Just Right State, Video Interactive Guidance, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Theraplay.

EDUCATOR & Parent
Calum Sabey
Hi, I am Calum. I’m a father of 3 great kids. You’ll hear more about them and my amazing wife, Carien, through ‘Calum’s Corner’ in our monthly newsletter.
My career began in primary teaching before I transitioned into full-time youth work. I’ve also held strategic roles, including serving as a governor for a university and a trustee for a Trust that supports young people and adults with complex disabilities. Recently, I’ve embraced a more creative and hands-on role as the owner and director in the construction industry. Throughout my career, people and relationships have been central to everything I do.
I love outdoor hobbies that allow me to breathe, relax, and reconnect with nature. Recently, our family has reorganised our daily routines to allow me to focus primarily on being a stay-at-home dad. While it’s sometimes unusual to be the only dad at events or school drop-offs, it’s been incredibly rewarding. Partnering with Carien and our fantastic therapists and parents within the SabeyOT community has been exciting. Sharing my experiences as a foster carer, adoptive dad, and biological dad to my children has been both challenging and fulfilling.
I hope you find something relatable in my blog, ‘Calum’s Corner’, or in my social media videos. Being a parent to children with diverse neuroprofiles is not only helping me grow as a parent but also as a person. My children continue to be my greatest teachers.
Mentor & Parent
Renée McIntyre
I’m Renée, and I’m deeply passionate about supporting families as they navigate the joys and challenges of raising children, whether they are part of the neurominority or neuromajority. As a wife and mum to two incredible kids, I understand firsthand how essential it is to feel supported, understood, and empowered. In our family, we embrace a mix of dyslexia, autism, PDA, and ADHD.
With an MA in Divinity and a professional background spanning both corporate and pastoral care settings, I bring strong skills in problem-solving, advocacy, and building meaningful relationships. Now devoted to walking alongside parents and carers, I provide a compassionate space to explore challenges, seek guidance, and discover practical strategies with encouragement and empathy.
Outside of work and family life, I find joy in music, photography, lifelong learning, and soaking up the sunshine.
